Title: Cisco price increase?
Post by: Dieselboy on May 24, 2016, 09:33:54 PM
I was looking at trading in my 9971 phone for a DX650. I have not saved any prices but I'm pretty sure our buy price was around $500 or just shy of $600 AUD. A DX650 RRP now this morning is almost $4k! RRP for a DX70 is over $5k AUD!
I notice 1 AUD gives us 0.72USD so this might be part of the reason. :(

Not all of it, but some...

One of those secondary issues facing Australia... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fLoZpj0qb0

It's getting harder and harder for me to tell an Australian accent from a generic UK accent.

This is hilarious.  :awesome:

I started following them when I taught Economics because they were some of the few comedians that actually ripped into the underlying reasons for the Panic of 2008. Them and Bird & Fortune in England were about it, as far as proper Economic comedy went.

Then I kept following them because I liked their wit. I'm watching their series "The Games" now and have 4 episodes left. Very acerbic stuff, their comedy. And I love the line, "Plan B is Plan A with an element of panic" from the series.

I don't get why Cisco do the whole list price thing when standard discount is well over 40%... It seems ridiculous, just set a 'normal' price then discount from there.

Because it makes you think you're getting such a great deal.

And when you get a 41% discount, you feel like a man of power and influence.

:badass:

Can someone explain this to me because this bit confuses me:
I can see the standard 41% or 42% discount if I raise a CCW quote and set the buy from to "Cisco".

Cisco have a trade-in deal running right now. Trade in a Cisco phone and get 15% trade in discount - > This discount is on the RRP isn't it? Or is that in addition to our buy price from Ingram Micro for example.

It confuses us, as well. And then the licensing discussion starts and it's all nnngggggghhhhaaaaaahhhh...

We're a big enough customer to where we don't really do trade-in deals. We just send in our purchasing department piranhas, and they manage to get a 99.999% discount or something like that. They're really good at what they do. NOBODY wants to mess with our purchasing department.

The company I worked for in England their finance people were like that. It's great :)

Talking about freebies, we are managing to get a fibre internet line installed in our remote office for the purposes of evaluating the internet service to see if we want to go ahead and sign up for a fibre internet service from that company. I said to the person in charge of this in our organisation that he wont be able to do that because the majority of the work and cost is in the installation of the fibre to the building. As it stands it's going ahead as a trial for at least a month. This discussion was only last week so we'll see how it pans out.
