Title: IPv6 Zone Indices
Post by: NetworkGroover on August 16, 2016, 12:50:58 PM
So, I've looked in my CCIE books and don't find discussion on the topic... I threw away other books cause they were seriously dated.

I've looked online and I'm having a bit of a hard time understanding how/where to check support for IPv6 scope zone indexes and if a product "uses a scope index of 0 when the default zone is intended".

I think this is a default for a network switch, but I want to be sure... any help?

EDIT - And what's really driving me nuts.. I bought a recommended book for IPv6 but during the move I can't find it.. probably in same random box somewhere .... ;(

What a pain in the arse - but nevermind all - got it worked out.

Needless to say, this is probably something you don't ever need to know about...

Yeah, the only reason I had to dig into it was because of govt security requirements... and the funny thing is... I don't think they even know what it is.... just vendors say "Yeah - we do that" and they're like "Ok" without ever verifying or knowing why they have the requirement in the first place.

ANd I Found my IPv6 book and it's not covered there either.. but they definitely exist (RFC 4007)... sheesh.

Just tell everyone you're working on an IPv8 implementation and they will leave you the hell alone.

IPv8 has been worked and binned due to it's crappyness, maybe it will make a comeback

use your google-fu...
