Title: The Reboot Thread
Post by: Netwörkheäd on December 15, 2016, 07:58:50 AM
Logged in to get started on an all-hands IT meeting, and Windows tells me it is time to reboot. NOW. It is now half an hour into the process, still on "Getting Windows ready  / Don't turn off your computer."

Wondering how long to leave it there before forcing an unexpected reboot...

The correct answer was 30 minutes. No hard drive sound, no fan whirring, no flashy lights, it was ready. I think.

Bounced it hard and it starts applying updates... reboots twice... and now I get "We couldn't complete the updates / Undoing changes / Don't turn off your computer"

:rage:

Rebooted twice, got the above message again, another reboot, the above message, a pair of reboots, and I'm in!

after hell like that get to a windows administrative command prompt,

run
sfc /scannow

it will check your system files for consistency and repair if needed.

What do you want to bet it was just "Microsoft Office 2013 Updated Modifiers" or some lame app like that?
