started working my resume updates, trying to update previous position and soon will add new postion
for my previous current job, using the active tense, I did alot of troubleshooting. now that I changed postions
troubleshot?? troubleshooted?? of need come up with some other descriptive word
in context..
"Troubleshoot network-related services...."
"I research, troubleshoot, determine root cause...."
"troubleshoot host connectivity issues"....
I'm at a loss here for a replacement value
any ideas?
Resolved
Solved
Built
Orchestrated :barf: no, don't use that one.
"Worked with team members to resolve operational outages, or issues."
or for a senior position
"Was the point of escalation for team members to resolve operational outages, or issues."
I don't remember what I did on mine. Haven't updated my resume in a couple years.

Thanks, this morning I found there is quite a discussion about this topic on the internet.
you should update your resume at least every 3-6 months, so you can get stuff in there while it's still fresh, otherwise you might forget what you did 2-3 years ago. I'm always tweaking and fine tuning mine almost on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. still trying to figure out the details as to where in the government I work, exactly. that I'll add when I figure it out.
Every 3 to 6 months is right. It lets you keep an eye on your career. Are you still on track? Are things better than you hoped for? Worse? Bad enough to start looking for a different job?
It also lets you add in good stuff and weed out old stuff you don't care to mention anymore. For example, if I'm looking for a job that has absolutely zero anything to do with the WAN and want to get a job in the datacenter, then I will mention absolutely zero anything about my experience with WAN technologies and really play up my DC experience. And if I don't have enough DC experience, then that's a sign to me that I need to seek out some additional training and to volunteer for some projects that get into that area.
Good points. I should keep it updated. I can make excuses like I am happy with my job, and don't plan to leave. However, there is always the possibility leaving is not by my choice, and I should be ready. I guess I will at least look at mine this weekend.

Really want only whats relevant to your current career, even then, 10 years max, nobody cares what you did 10+ years ago.
They want to see what you are doing today. A resume is like 99% about showing value.

Exactly. Stuff older than even 5 years old on my resume is summed up in two lines - one for the job title, one for the job desc. Jobs older than 10 years old are one line for title, that's it.
I love my one page resume. I did find my latest copy, and it is more updated than I thought. Started working on the update, but life got in the way.

I also versionate my resume, saving every considerable change with a different filename, with a version number much as a programmer might do.
I sometimes need to reword stuff back to a prior time because something sounded better before.

was updating the res last night, had to refer back to fix my troubleshotting issue. Not feeling good about this re-complete, although I was told "everything will be fine". Hate these contract deals.
Feel free to share it here or privately when it's ready.
