Title: Can S5700 switch be used as a router?
Post by: MaggieWang on January 04, 2018, 03:27:25 AM
As the router is broken, so I would like to use Huawei S5700 (http://www.thunder-link.com/S5700-SWITCH_c136.html) to replace.
The first configuration is this:
1. The router connected to the outer net, static IP; connect 5700, and use trunk link to pass through 3 vlans.
2. Place three VLAN on S5700 switch, 24-port trunk connects to the router.
3.The VLAN gateway is on the router, which is 254 on the router, and 253 is the VLAN address of 5700

Now the router is broken, it means the gateway is off, the port connecting the Internet is off. I wonder if this three-layer switch S5700 can play the role of routing and switching at the same time?

Looks like some of the Huawei S5700 models support L3,  which model are we talking about?

Should be able to use it as a router, the data sheet says it's a gigabit layer 3 Ethernet switch.  Has static routing and some dynamic routing capabilities.
