Well, it happened. :-\
But even if it hadn't happened, there are costs of a *potential* shutdown, as departments meet to determine which staff are essential, which staff can go home, what functions to no longer offer after the shutdown starts, and so forth. The politicians may think that there's no problem until the shutdown starts, when in reality, the problem starts as soon as there's an issue getting either a budget or a continuing resolution passed.
At any rate, to those of our members and readers that are working for a USG department affected by this shutdown, let me express my condolences at this unwanted disruption in your life. I hope it clears up soon.
sucks even more because the feds get paid retroactive, but us lowly contractors are SOL. Got no income now, so it's time to go hunting.

looks like a travel job, don't mind the travel, but don't fly in airplanes. So that wouldn't work for me.
Well, we got some good tech support slots here in Dallas, if you'd like to stay on the ground. Palo Alto also has a call center here, just across the street from ForeScout.
