Basically a re-run of an earlier blog where he encourages people to put things on resumes (and I'd put them on the cover letters) that make you sound truly different from other commodity applicants.
Don't say that you're committed to teamwork, customer service, problem resolution, and stuff like that. It's like a home builder saying he's committed to putting walls in every house he builds.
Put in some personal story that proves you are who you are. Talk about that one time where you worked around the clock for 38 hours to restore a complicated WAN outage. Better, tell about the time you were able to spot a flaw early on and *prevent* a 38 hour WAN outage!
