Two *million* dollars!
I try to ask about salary compensation fairly early in the process. If it is a head hunter, or external recruiter then probably in the first call with them. Talking to the company directly then after the first interview. If they don't want to give a range I will give them mine. We don't need to agree on an exact number, but it isn't worth either of our time if they are only looking to pay half of what I am looking for.
