Title: Point to Multipoint wireless
Post by: heath on March 29, 2021, 07:09:52 AM
Looking for some PtMP advice.  Not looking to start a WiSP or anything, just deploy network to some buildings on campus where there is no network and burying fiber is far too cost prohibitive.  Radius of a little over 1,000ft at max.  I was looking at the Ubiquiti stuff and using their AirLink tool.  I was looking at the LTU Rocket with up to 5 LTU Pro stations.  But even with the output power reduced to 0db, a "custom" antenna with the gain lowered to 9dbi with a 360 degree radius, the tool shows that I'm blanketing the entire town and then some which is not something I want to do.  Looking at the actual antennas for the LTU Rocket, the lowest gain and widest radius is 19dbi and 120 degrees respectively.  What should I be looking at to get high performance PtMP and limit the signal to a relatively short distance?
