Title: Palo Alto CNSE
Post by: wintermute000 on June 24, 2015, 11:20:34 PM
Anyone seen any demand for this?

We do a lot of palo work here, but I'm reluctant to get tagged as a palo guy (its still better than being the 'firewall guy'  ), wondering whether its worth getting deeper in or just knowing enough to get my work done

Just guessing here, but probably as useful as my BNCP is. (Brocade Certified Network Professional)
I've not seen a lot of demand for the cert, maybe if you work for a partner, or a PA SE

If it's one of those pass and keep forever certs (like the BCNP) I'd say go for it.

PA are quite top end, and most of companies can't afford their products.

If it's one of those pass and keep forever certs (like the BCNP) and you've got the time,  I'd say go for it.

Why not get your feet wet with the free ACE exam?

"The ACE exam comprises 50 multiple-choice questions, and requires an 80% score or better to pass. The exam is not timed, and you can retake it as many times as necessary to earn a passing score."

*And* you get a polo shirt if when you pass!

I will probably go for it when I have some time; I already got the ACE & I work at a PA partner so it makes sense for me.  Also PA is among the leaders for FW so I'd be more glad to work on their FW products than some other vendors.

re: ACE, I've done have already lol. No its not on my sig, as its not a real cert (web based, non-proctored open book?  )

All we seem to be selling is Palos @ the high end and Fortigate @ the low end. Nobody wants Cisco or Juniper, still some Checkpoint. Its all about NGFW and bolting on a source-fire module isn't good enough unless you're upgrading from a heavily invested ASA environment, it seems.

Hi. I'm in a heavily invested ASA environment, with some Juniper.

How easy was the ACE exam? Is there any way to lab it, virtual appliance or something? Even the low-and PA-200 plus all the licensing is a bit expensive to run as my home firewall  :)

Been spending half my time on the PAs at work in the last few months, but we just prepare scripts for a third party to implement. Which means we do all the work but don't get to push the commit button

The questions are gnarly specific but it is open book... You'll need to talk to your friendly Palo alto sales engineer I'm afraid for access to the vm and an evaluation license, without the registered license none of the security profiles have the magic sauce working

The short answer is no.

The slightly longer answer is for you to not use dumps. This web board has a firm, no-dump policy. We help other people to study and to master the material so that when they are working on an issue, they can actually be helpful. Dumps only get you to the exam. The exam only gets you to the interview. The interview is where the REAL test comes and you have to know your material in that interview. Dumps do not get you jobs.

We ban people that post links to dump sites and we encourage people asking for dumps to do better than that and to really study for the test they're about to take.
