Cisco TAC just told me the 7940 VOIP phones in SIP mode don't support being pointed to a call manager express, but they did give me a really really horrid work around  :zomgwtfbbq:

Pro-tip on CME: you cant have more than 19 phones on a shared-line in sip.

TBH if you need to have >19 users on a shared line, you're doing it wrong.


Shared lines are meant for boss/secretary type setups or small office shared functionality, not call centre or helpdesk hotlines. If you have 19 operators answering the same number, do it properly (ghetto with hunt groups or properly with ACD groups or the equivalent).
