Title: Adding a Layer 2 P2P connection to a site that is connected via an existing ELAN
Post by: maathimself on February 08, 2022, 04:08:57 PM
Hi Everyone, I currently have a large number of my sites connected to my datacenter using a layer 2 ELAN connection. I have a new site that is going to be online soon that will require some redundancy, so I am look at getting a second private circuit which is a microwave P2P layer 2 connection. I was originally planning on connecting the remote site to the data center using LACP, but I realize that is not going to work because the ELAN at the datacenter connects to multiple remote sites and not just this new building. Does anyone have any ideas aside from converting this site to a layer3 and adding a WAN circuit and firewall? Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated!

I'd expect layer 3 to be used somewhere as you have multiple sites. Probably you have assigned a subnet to each site and routing between them?

Does the ELAN service provide their own routers that you route to or how does it work?

Do you have a network diagram of any kind?
