Used to have parties like that at Microsoft. I don't miss them. I don't like pep rallies, especially corporate ones. You want to appreciate me and thank me for my job well done? Then give me a raise and don't outsource my job.

Quoted for MFin' truth! I definitely felt like this at previous jobs. I'd be standing there looking around some rooftop bar with fancy food and free drinks and be thinking, "This is still probably cheaper than giving everyone payraises - jerks."
About two weeks ago my lead called me:
Lead: "Hey man, what's going on?"
Me: "Not much - how goes?"
Lead: "Hey dude, how much were you getting payed again?"
Me:"<$Amount>"
Lead: "Not anymore!"
Me: "Why, did I get promoted to the unemployment line?"
*Laughter ensues...*
I love the company I work for now. They've done nothing but impress me and challenge/inspire me from the moment I started. I've always looked for that next step, you know - where am I going to go next? I feel like this is the end game for me... and never expected that it would be working for a vendor.
EDIT - I should say though, I have an EXCEPTIONAL Lead who steps up to bat for us - so he probably had some doing with this and he's been with the company since the beginning so he has some pull. I don't know if my positive experiences are because the company as a whole is awesome, or because he's so awesome. I suspect a good mix of both.
I looked through the pictures. Some nice eye candy. When's corporate drinks night?

Yes, those "employee thank you" parties and dinners are way cheaper than giving everyone raises or bonuses. One advantage to working for a smaller company is I don't have to worry about that crap lol.
