Lent it to my team lead a few weeks ago, now I need it.
Rage taking over...
>:D :developers:  :jackie-chan: :rage:
Buy multiple, I have one at work, one in my car, one in home office and one in stock, gotta have em handy :matrix:
... and NEVER lend them out, apparently...
How can you have just one. Don't you get one with practically every new device?

I'm guessing the USB > Serial adapter?
I keep on in my toolbag, one in my laptop bag, one in my desk at the office, and I leave one hanging on one of the racks at almost every client location lol.

Bingo. Unlike the RJ45-Serial cables, the USB-Serial cables don't grow on trees. I don't need them all the time, but when I do, they're usually being borrowed by someone else, dammit.
Get an airconsole, and tell any one who asks to borrow it to die in a fire.

These are cool - used one the other day at a customer site. Didn't even notice a delay in typing or anything while I was hooked up wirelessly.

I want my company to order a MILLION of them and then give them all to ME!
They look cool, but my laptop has no bluetooth, and i don't want to give up my wireless connection when I am using a console port :-(
I still want a million of them.
In related news, my console cable is currently in Switzerland, where my team lead is currently attending a series of meetings. It will return to Texas on Saturday, and back to my possession on Wednesday.
Ah
I didn't see before that they are cloud accessable... WANT!!!!

so by use of fuzzy logic, if you didn't loan out your console cable, you'd be in Switzerland now?
Precisely. And, by extension of said logic, I'd be contributing to the loyalty awards program thread instead of this one.

You can configure them to join the same wireless network you're on, assuming it's secured with a PSK. Or you can plug in the RJ45 port and it can bridge its wireless onto the wired.
Being able to google while you're consoled in was definitely something they put some thought into.

definately looks cool, I wonder how secure they are.
I wonder if one of these would be good for the personal toolkit. say you are at a client site, need to get access to a device, plug it in, turn it on and connect to the console with your tablet.
Why, they're probably just as secure as any other consumer electronics device with web enabled capabilities...

(Fun fact: that image comes from the Russian movie "Ivan Vasilievich Changes Professions", a time-travel comedy that came out in 1973, way ahead of "Back to the Future" and "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure". Working through it on the YouTube, quite funny.)
I've got the Air Console and love it. Use it with my iPad all the time. Works great to not carry a full laptop when you are going to be in/out fast. Also, the Air Console is a battery pack so it can also be used to charge devices like a phone. And I'm told you can use the USB connections on routers to recharge it while in use using the provided USB cable however I haven't yet tested this feature.
I have a bluetooth console cable with interchangeable antennae, the top end antenna gives up to 1km distance apparently. The little stubby antenna it came with gives well in excess of 10 metres though and does surprisingly well. Being battery powered I can plug it in to switches and run off battery power or I can plug in the little USB charge cable and plug the usb end in to a near by ASA or router or anything with a USB port that will give the 5v.
Was a bit expensive, if I remember it cost around $170 AUD, which included the unit, a battery and a usb bluetooth adapter

Currently it's in the comms room connected up to an ISR. I should probably let it discharge so I can charge it again. Can't remember the battery technology though.
