Title: Can anyone please answer the networking question
Post by: rix on November 15, 2023, 02:04:27 AM
Mega Com Corporation is software company is currently situated in one office building contains three departments, namely Java Development (JD), Human Resource (HR), and Network Operation Center (NOC). The company has 15 computers and has decided to divide the network into three subnets. The company has decided to implement a new network infrastructure that will connect all the departments and allow seamless communication and the sharing of resources.

|Departments |Networking Devices (Servers, Computers and Printers)| |:-|:-| |Java Development |20| |Human Resource |6| |Network Operation Center |25|

The company is provided with an IP address with 24 network bits, and the company requires appropriate subnetworks. A Local Area Network (LAN) for each department in order to share specific software and resources. The network should be designed to ensure efficient communication and minimal latency.

Questions:

The design of the network, including any networking hardware, software, network addresses and devices and users, including any network sub domains as well as the physical location of these devices within the organisation

Any device configuration and security considerations should be included, and an IP address should be selected on your own for this purpose.

The design of a maintenance schedule to support the networked system.'

Thank you.

Wondering what the budget is for this project.  :smug:

Minimal latency - not really a concern with this group, since they're not involved in real-time stock trades or anything like that. Normal off-the-shelf ethernet will be fine for them, especially since we can do gigabit throughput to the desktop.

If everyone is in the same office area, then we'd need just one patch panel to handle the traffic from the wall outlets to the switch, and a single 24-port switch will do. Include Layer 3 functions on the switch so we can do routing within it, saves time and money.

I'd like to see some of your thoughts on the answers before I go forward, as I don't know exactly what your instructor may be looking for here. Is it a general plan or a detailed listing of IP address spaces with the smallest possible subnets?

Have you decided on a subnet to use?

I think this is an old question, looking for IPv4 not IPv6.
