Title: Happy Thanksgiving ...
Post by: icecream-guy on November 26, 2015, 06:57:07 AM
to all those here in the US.

Happy Football Thursday to all the others.

....how do you overseas US Football fans deal with the time difference,  those late games are realllyyyyy late.......

I don't know how I'd deal with Monday night football on wee early on a Tuesday morning.

ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE: By "football", Ristau is referring to "American football", the game played with an oval ball and helmets, as opposed to "Australian football", which is played with an oval ball and no helmets. Also not "Football", which is played with a round ball, no helmets, and fake injuries. In American football, when a guy is on the field, writhing in pain, he's not faking it. Which is why Italians don't play American football... they'd all lie down on the first play and never get up.

I'm going to watch the Cowboys play Carolina in a house full of die-hard Cowboys fans.

I anticipate a lot of  :kramer: and then some  :ivan: followed by  with a little  :developers: and a follow-up of  :frustration: with a side order of  :rage: .

Then the Cowboys will get within one score of winning and it'll be all like  :pub: :partay:   and then the Cowboys actually pull ahead and the Panthers go three and out with 2:35 to go and then it's all

:applause: :kidwoohoo: :bole:

But then, after Dez Bryant fumbles and the Panthers drive down the field... to score the winning touchdown... and then the 'Boys see their plays ripped apart with stupid penalties, it'll be all...

:zomgwtfbbq:  :wtf: :wall: :'( :o    :squint: :barf:
:jackie-chan: :yuno: :rage: :facepalm1:
:facepalm2: :hankhill: :facepalm3: :facepalm4: :printer:

I'm prepared for the eventuality of a Cowboy loss, but the family is NOT. They believe the Cowboys can actually win out for the season AND actually clean up in the playoffs.

My family is like the football fan, and I'm like the guy that's a bit put out by how the fan actually behaves as if he is an integral part of the team.

So there was the pick-six on the second play...

:facepalm1:

The pick-six later in the game...

:facepalm2:

The third interception...

:facepalm3:

The inability to score a touchdown on their first big drive...

:facepalm4:

The season-ending injury to Romo...

:ckfacepalm:

And let's not forget the first Matt Cassel play that involved a collision with McFadden...

:jackie-chan:

The 4th-and-30 situation after that...

:ivan:

True, Cassel finally did lead an actual touchdown drive... but that was with only a few minutes left to go and there being a three-score deficit still to go...

:hankhill:

All in all, though, I was ready for it. Quite unlike the Green Bay fans that heard Aaron Rodgers miked up on that snap when he dropped the f-bomb and then went out with a wrist sprain. Those guys watched a big loss to Chicago and I suppose they're all like

:rage:

after losing, what, four straight?

Smoked a turkey yesterday, so up at 4am to get started. Done at 130ish and came out great. Small crowd at our house but still went like hell until 7-8pm with everything and all the kids (oh god all the kids).

Today through Sunday it looks like we are indoors due to ice storms outside. If the kids keep this up  I will trek bear-foot to the liquor store... Should have a larger stash, what the hell am I thinking I old enough to know better.

Bad loss by Greenbay... Cowboys eh. I was kinda pulling for them. Sucks for Romo, might be it for him.

lol @ dean.

We hosted my wife's family for Thanksgiving this year. I did a Coca-Cola Ham in the crockpot and a turkey in the oven. Turned out pretty damn good. Spending time with my wife's family though can cause you to lose a few brain cells.
