Title: Goodbye to networking ... Making the transition to DevOps
Post by: AnthonyC on December 11, 2015, 03:26:22 PM
After been in the network field for close to 8 years, next week I will be making the transitioning to a DevOps role.  No longer will networking be the primary role of the job but will just be one part of the infrastructure that I will design/implement via code.

Looking forward to what 2016 will bring! :)

That's pretty awesome :)  I'm sure you'll be picking up some Arista gear soon if you haven't already!

:problem?:

In December 2013 I did a similar thing. Worst move of my life. Networking is only around 40% if that, of my current role and networking is my passion. I've recently signed a contract to switch jobs and hope to start in January 2016. Just waiting for the legal stuff to be done by immigration as my job sponsor me to be in Australia.

On a plus side, I'm now very au-fait with Windows Server 2012, Red Hat Virtualisation, VMWare, CUCM/IM&P Cisco Jabber and telephones, Red Hat systems, Group Policies, Apple Macs etc.
