Title: Bit worrying, this is going on outside the office

Smelled bushfire a few hours ago, now the place is like a war zone. Very low choppers flying about, roads closed, police everywhere, fire trucks and all sorts. There's a lake very close by but it's dry. Not sure where the choppers are getting the water from, sea isn't very far though.

All under control late last night. At least one house caught fire and some of the university campus.

The cause: A 26 year old man, camping, wanted to clear some bush so he could camp by setting fire to it. Even though there is a total fire ban considering it was over 40c / 104F yesterday. Why you would want to camp in that heat I don't know!

Apparently the guy was fined $200,000aud. You can't cure stupidity.
